Foundational Health For Pets

Foundational Health is about creating healthy lifestyle foundations for your pet, no matter their age or stage in life. Whether you have a new puppy, an adopted adult cat, or an older pet with chronic conditions, we can help maximize their quality of life through preventive physical medicine and fitness. We focus on building strong, healthy habits to ensure your dog enjoys a long, vibrant life.

Preventive Physical Medicine and Fitness

Investing Upstream in Fitness to Promote Whole Body Health

Sometimes we see dogs with no history of a pain or mobility condition as a strictly preventive appointment, identifying areas of weakness that don’t translate to injuries or pain, but could predispose to injuries in the future. We love developing a fitness plan for these highly capable dogs that results in smoother movements, better posture, and a greater ability to protect their bodies against injuries.

Targeted Fitness for Specific Injury Prevention

Sometimes we work our way through an injury with a pet, and they surpass our expectations. The surgery we were preparing for is no longer needed, or the neurological injury has resolved, but we know these pets could relapse at any time, and keeping them strong and fit is important to prevent chronic re-injuries!

Midlife Health Maintenance

Many of us humans sail through our 20’s without paying a whole lot of attention to our bodies. We reach our 30’s and find we need to work a little harder to maintain the same physique and energy levels as we enjoyed in our 20’s. We hit our 40’s and, despite not having any significant health problems, everything starts to feel a little harder in our bodies.

Many pets go through the same thing when they hit the 4-7 year old range. They’re not sick, they don’t have major sources of pain, but play is a little harder than it used to be, and it takes a little longer to recover from those long days of running at the beach on the rare, gloriously sunny Spring day in the PNW!

A good fitness plan, some high quality nutraceuticals, and maybe some occasional acupuncture, and we can keep these pets feeling spry through their middle ages!

Helping Senior and Geriatric Pets Age Gracefully

Quality of Life and Healthspan Focus in Later Years

As they age, senior pets tend to develop more age-related issues, most of which can be helped by the physical medicine we practice at Ruff Day. Movement is life, so we like to keep our seniors moving to their greatest ability, and we have the tools to do it!

Managing Chronic Conditions

Healthspan Optimization + Maintenance For Pets

Some pets have chronic conditions that can be kept at bay with regular acupuncture and/or exercise. Some pets are athletes who want to utilize Ruff Day’s services to optimize their performance in their sport. There are many pets at all life stages who benefit from our services without having anything wrong with them at all! Not all solutions need a problem.
